Concerto for Quintet and 16 Manipulators A piece for five professional musicians and a group of middle school students controlling the electronic processing of acoustic sounds by means of motion sensors Zamówienie: Gorzow Philharmonic Concerto Concerto for Quintet and 16 Manipulators A 10-movements piece commissioned by the Gorzow Philharmonic integrating professional musicians and youth from secondary schools. The basis of the composition is a quintet (clarinet, horn, violin, cello, double bass). Musicians perform their parties on the basis of pretty traditional musical notation. The sounds of their instruments go directly to the listener's ears and... to the computer. The computer processes the individual instruments and at the speakers appears the soundtrack which is an alternative to the acoustic sounds. Here comes the crucial role of young people, because the parameters of that computer processing are controled by middle school students. Each of them standing in front of his own motion sensor performs hands gestures affecting computer work, and deforms the sound as a result. All these gestures have been included in the score in the form of a specially created code.------Concert was the part of the project "Tangled in the sounds II"Jan 24, 2016Performers:Young people from middle schools of GorzówMusicians of Gorzów PhilharmonicWaldemar Żarów - clarinetWłodzimierz Reif - french hornMaciej Grygiel - violinPiotr Więcław - celloPaweł Wasilewski - double bassJarek Kordaczuk - conductor   Workshop Concerto for Quintet and 16 Manipulators - Workshop "During the workshop preparing young people for the concert, composer explained how to translate the code into the movement and he taught how to synchronize  gesture to the music.
